Well it's been a while...

Life does have a tendancy to get in the way sometimes, doesn't it?

I really DID get my recommended black belt after a 3 hour test in the beginning of November. It was hard and painful, but well worth it. It was awesome that we got small breaks since such a wide swath of people were taking the test. I think that was the only way I made it through. Especially since the test started with calisthenics and 100 push ups! Great way to begin!!

It was bag workout, all the forms, prearranged, kicking combinations, basics across the floor and breaking. Whew. It was hard but awesome.

Now it's the new year and I have to get back in it. I've been gone from TKD for about 3 weeks now and I'm feeling it BIG time. It just leaves such a hole in your life when you're so used to it for so long. It'll come I suppose.

Wow

Wow. Just wow. Nothing can really sum up how I feel right now. We just elected a black man for president. I just didn't think my country would do it. Ever be able to get past race to elect the person who was right for the job. I am surprised and proud.

It sounded like New Year's here in Brooklyn. Yelling and horn honking well into the early AM.

I'm so glad to be a part of it.

My first post here

Well it's 9 days and counting until my black belt test at taekwondo. I AM ready, but scared out of my mind at the same time. Not really about the technical aspects... or the memorization. It's that it's really an endurance test for 3 hours. I also have come to loathe the spotlight, and there's a ton of instructors and friends and family there. That's very disconcerting. But I'm sure I'll do fine. Just have to go a few times next week. I was going to go to breaking class last night, but decided not to at the last minute after a particularly rough requirements class at 6pm. That's what happens when Grandmaster decides to teach a class! :)

Have to bone up on the prearranged from brown to high red. That's the last stuff to memorize... well REmemorize. I did know it once upon a time. It's just to jog it out of my long-term memory to somewhere I can access it.

Well all that is on the back burner tonight. Going to my brother in law's birthday party on happy Halloween. My husband and I should make a great Sid and Nancy!!

Later taters.
